Dealing with a Drunken Narcissist: What to Know
I personally don’t think it takes alcohol to expose narcissistic traits in someone who is already characterized or diagnosed as a narcissist. A drunken person’s personality can be very similar to a narcissistic person as it relates to impulsivity, arrogance, loudness, rage, overly confident, selfish, reckless, and anger. Someone with narcissistic traits when inebriated only exacerbates their audacious behavior. Those with narcissistic personality disorder often view themselves as superior to others, engage in grandiose behavior, have difficulty empathizing with others, and usually have unstable relationships which is common to someone who deals with alcoholism.
Alcoholism can cause a person to become more self-centered and have an inflated sense of self-importance, which are common traits associated with NPD narcissistic personality disorder. Over time, drinking can also lead to impulsive behavior, difficulty expressing emotions, and an inability to take responsibility for one’s actions, all of these are also symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder.
They may be prone to outbursts of extreme anger and have difficulty controlling their emotions. Feeling entitled, unreasonable expectations, frequent changes in their moods, memory loss, and difficulty controlling their behavior, which can all be symptoms of narcissism it just…
