Introduction
Generational stereotypes are often a pervasive force in both social and professional settings, shaping how individuals view and interact with people from different age groups. These stereotypes arise from shared historical, cultural, and technological experiences that define the major events in each generation’s life. Common generational categories include Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z. Each group carries its own unique set of traits, expectations, and work habits. Unfortunately, these distinctions frequently give rise to oversimplified or exaggerated perceptions — stereotypes — that can have a negative effect on communication, collaboration, and overall productivity.
Stereotypes like labeling Baby Boomers as resistant to change or Millennials as entitled often overlook the complexity of individuals within these groups.
