Regular people and narcissists have different relationship goals. Regular folk like to support and encourage each other, share tender times, develop memories. Narcissist enter relationships in order to win against, or dominate the other person. Sometimes, a narcissistic couple will band together to look down on and diminish other people, such as their own children, families, and friends.

Did you let your narcissistic partner know you would be glad to break down the strength of others with them? No? Then the narcissist is going to break down your strength and this is going to harm your relationship because this is how they relate to those closest to them. They’re compulsively combative and feel entitled to constantly one up others.

They feel entitled to be treated as if they are better than others and above the golden rule.
