How to Protect Yourself from Escalating Abuse

It can escalate to physical abuse. Abuse is abuse — escalation or no escalation. If you’re wondering if the physiological will remain the same it can, however it can also escalate to verbal, emotional, financial, and physical. While physical abuse is occasional and characterized by cycles, psychological abuse is constant. Though, psychological abuse doesn’t leave bruises, scars, and broken bones, it can cause severe emotional issues, mental health problems, and financial hardship for some.

Psychological abuse > can escalate to >physical abuse, and physical abuse can escalate to >Death. This is why no form of abuse should be tolerated.

Solutions: 🔰

  • Seek help: There is no shame in seeking therapy to help you cope. Counseling and therapy can help you process your emotions, develop coping skills, build self-esteem, and heal from the trauma.
  • Leave the abusive situation: If you are in an abusive situation, it’s important to create a safety and exit plan, and leave as soon as you can. Seek help from trusted friends, family members, neighbors, law enforcement, or domestic violence organizations.
