Imagine standing at the edge of a vast, open plain. In one direction, you see familiar landmarks — your home, your community, your comfort zone. In the other, there’s a horizon stretching endlessly, promising the unknown. That’s what boundaries feel like. They’re the edges of our maps — sometimes clear and comforting, sometimes blurry and intimidating.

The Boundaries We Create

We all draw boundaries, whether we realize it or not. These invisible lines help us navigate life. They give us structure, protect us, and define who we are. Boundaries can be personal, like the emotional space we need, or physical, like the walls of our homes.

Think about personal boundaries as the rules we set for how others treat us. For example, you might decide that you need time alone after a busy day, or that you won’t tolerate unkind behavior. These boundaries are like fences — they define our space and protect our well-being.
