We’ve all been there. You’re at a party or a gathering, and everyone seems to be doing one thing — laughing at a joke, following a trend, or agreeing with a particular opinion — and, even though you might not totally agree with what’s happening, you find yourself doing the same thing. Maybe you laugh when everyone else laughs, or you nod in agreement even if you’re not entirely sure about the point being made. You might even buy the same clothes or follow a new trend just because everyone around you is doing it.
