One of the main reasons why they find fault with everything that you do is to deflect all the fault that they do.

Narcissists are cowardly, insecure, and selfish personalities to deal with. They will find fault with you if they are a coworker, friend, family member, spouse, or if you’re in a relationship with them. Fault finding everything you do is part of their abusive pattern. Narcissists would wait for you to make the smallest mistake to make everybody else aware of your error, or to call you out as a way to make you feel bad. They also use humor as a way to criticize and find fault with you. Narcissists absolutely hate being criticized for the slightest thing, which is another reason why they criticize you. Narcissists are also control freaks, so the fault finding is part of their way of controlling you. They’re really quick to point the finger at you as if they’re faultless, and flawless.
