True Magnetism: How to Be Real, Not Perfect
Learn why authenticity, not pretense, makes you truly magnetic
Sometimes you have to go down to get up. This is one of those times.
Your goal of having a “magnetic personality” is a bit poorly stated, I think. We’ll get to that in a bit. First I want to talk about what it means to “go down to get up.”
People have goals, and those goals are like “up” — “some ideal way that I would like to be”, yes? Higher than where I am. So then obviously, you cook up a strategy for climbing that mountain, and you go onto Quora and ask questions about routes and maps. Obviously.
Except there’s a problem, because the nature of many goals isn’t what you think — the top of the mountain isn’t some place you get to by effort and climbing, it’s something that you *are*, but which is sort of frozen and useless. It needs to be defrosted, not “achieved.” If your magnetism is frozen deep down somewhere, you can’t locate it, you can’t recognize it, you can’t be it.
No amount of trying to “build charisma” will really be satisfying for something like this, you’ll always feel like you’re faking it if you try to climb that mountain. The only authentic kind of magnetism is what happens when true self expresses itself. That’s what you really want. But true self…
