Understanding the Narcissist’s Need for Control Through Texts

They do this as a bait to see if you would bite on the hook per say. This is done so that there is enough attention to keep the false hope alive. This is done to let you know that there is no effort, commitment, or respect towards how they view you. This is done so that the narcissist or emotional abuser can keep your interest. It is not a good thing. It is basically throwing breadcrumbs to you to see if you’re still interested. To see if they still have power and control over you. To see if you will fall prey to their old or abusive patterns.

Typically, this is done after a breakup, discard, ghosting, or when you feel you’re unsure where things stand. When things are sporadic, inconsistent, unpredictable are all red flags, and sends a message of a non-commitment interest. They want to know if you’re still there waiting patiently by the phone for a text message from them, and the quicker you answer, or reply tells them that they still have control over you.

While you wait on standby, they will check-in every now and then sporadically with a text message. I’m here to tell you that no one is that busy to pick up the phone and have a conversation with you as opposed to a text message with a one-word or vague message, such as (Hey). It is an emotional manipulative method designed to keep you dependent on them until they want or need something from you. (The Hey) text message is normally done without a good morning, good afternoon, or how are you doing. If you watch their behavior very carefully their behavior will tell you how they feel about you. So, they start the text message off by saying “Hey” to get your attention, and to condition you to respond immediately as way for you to comply.

May you know the signs, and may you trust that life has an available healthy relationship for you.
