Today, I want to share my personal experience with drinking too much water and what it taught me.

I’m from Karachi, where summers are typically hot, and everyone feels thirsty. I’ve always had the habit of drinking a lot of water. Initially, I used to drink 4 to 5 liters of water daily, which seemed fine at the time. However, over a few months, my water-drinking habit spiraled out of control. I started consuming 15 to 16 litres of water a day.

That’s when things started to go wrong. I began experiencing severe headaches and occasional dizziness. Despite these symptoms, I continued drinking large amounts of water because I thought it was helping me stay healthy and hydrated. Over time, I increased my intake even further, reaching a staggering 19 to 20 liters in 24 hours.

During that period, my health started to deteriorate significantly. The headaches and dizziness became more frequent, and at times, I felt like my body was shutting down — as if I couldn’t breathe properly and my energy was being drained.

One day, a random thought crossed my mind: Could drinking too much water actually be harmful? I decided to look it up online, and the results shocked me.
