When Your Success Feels Like a Threat to a Narcissist

Its a symptom of how they process life.

So internally, a narcissist feels entitled. And when they encounter something they want, or whenever anything happens, they can feel that entitlement being either fulfilled, or denied.

So, its almost as if they were born with the world owing them something. They don’t look inside to see if they are giving the world what it deserves. Instead, they gaze outward and see what they want. Inwardly they simply feel they deserve or should have it.

So, here you have someone who feels innately deserving of all they desire, and then you come along and promote your own will. That you would will something other than what they want feels like an assault. It feels like a threat. They don’t feel like joining with you, and mutually pleasing each other. Nope. They don’t perceive the pleasure of shared well-being. Instead, they feel challenged. They already had well-being, then you came along wanting something different. You came with demands. You came asserting your rights into their world. You come as a challenger.

So, when you find misfortune, they feel relief. Naturally, when they find misfortune they project that you may be enjoying it as they would. They may believe your will is being fulfilled.
