Why Awareness Isn’t Always Enough to Avoid Narcissistic Manipulation
They typically act the same to people who can see right through them, though they normally act accordingly to the specificity of the circumstances. They typically stay away or keep their distance from those who can see right through them, because they know that they’re not easily to be manipulated. Though, this doesn’t change their eagerness or impulsivity to humiliate, hurt, devalue, use, abuse, set you up to fail or look bad, and to manipulate you.
Those who have narcissistic personality disorder or personality disorder prefer dealing with someone who is naive or unaware of toxic predatorial personalities. Even though they will still try to manipulate those who can see right through them they are less likely to succeed with their motive or intentions. I have witnessed plenty of people who are aware of those who are narcissistic, though even with their awareness they too were manipulated by the narcissist. Narcissists can be very charming, and very well skilled at manipulation. They know who to interact with and they know who not to interact with. Even if you can see straight through them, they know when to put on the mask to temporarily behave accordingly. This is only temporary until they can find someone who is easily to be controlled and or manipulated.
