This can mean a few things. What we do know to be true is that everything that they do is predicated on what can benefit them even if that means being nice. Charming and overly nice people are very captivating. (“Some” overly nice people = ulterior motives) You can think of the car salesman, the con artists, the scammer when it comes to how nice, overly friendly, or charming they are when communicating with you. The ultimate goal is a transactional encounter of manipulating their emotions to come off as nice, so that you can give them what they want in exchange for their superficiality. We have established that narcissist always have an ulterior motive. So, they turn on the charm and niceness to get what they want.

Below can be as to why they are nice to you.

  • They want something from you.
  • They need something from you.
  • They want you to provide something for them. Such as: Money, car, sex, a place to live, attention, validation, gratification, and anything that can satisfy their low esteem.
  • They are trying to throw you off balance for a ruthless sabotage that will shock you into emotional shackles.
  • They want to confuse you, mislead you, and misdirect you.
  • They’re about to set you up, and watch you…
