Why Narcissists Target Both the Weak and the Strong

They do the same exact thing that they would when they see you are too weak for them.

When they see you are too strong for them either they will see it as a threat, or as a challenge. A common misconception is that narcissists go for the weak, because they are easier to manipulate. This is not always the case, because narcissists are very savvy, persistent, and conniving. They also like a good challenge every now and then. So, someone who is strong isn’t exempt as a target for someone who has NPD narcissistic personality disorder.

When you display your independent existence, and vitality it can be a direct hit to their self-esteem, because they think they’re superior. Your strength may not be worth the risk of pursing, controlling, and debilitating you.

When they see that they can’t get over on you or someone who is just too strong for them to railroad; they then will realize that they cannot emotionally destabilize you or control you so they will move on to someone who is less of a challenge or naive.

Narcissists are attracted to certain types of people, and they know exactly who to target. Rather than the weak or vulnerable, some do tend to go for the strong-willed, and those who are independent. The more independent you are the more they feel they can gain from you. This gives…
